Participation of Algerian Delegation in the 150th UIP Assembly
A joint parliamentary delegation from Algeria’s two legislative chambers, led by the President of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Mr. Brahim Boughali, will participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings scheduled from April 5 to 9, 2025, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This information was communicated by the National Council on Thursday.
The delegation from the National Council is tasked with discussing several key topics on the agenda of the various committees and bodies of the IPU under the general debate theme, "Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Social Justice."
During this assembly, resolutions will be adopted regarding urgent matters selected by the members, particularly concerning important international situations that necessitate immediate action from the global community. Notably, the conference will address the Palestinian cause, focusing on the role of parliaments in promoting a two-state solution. There will also be discussions on parliamentary strategies aimed at mitigating the long-term effects of conflicts, including armed conflicts, on sustainable development.
In this context, the Algerian delegation will actively engage in coordination meetings for both the Arab and African geopolitical groups, as well as participate in gatherings of Muslim states.
Representatives of the Algerian National Council in this delegation include Mr. Ahmed Kharchi, Vice-President of the IPU; Mr. Abderrahmane Guenchouba, President of the parliamentary group of the National Democratic Rally (RND) and IPU member; and Mr. Kamel Khelifati, a senator and member of the IPU.
