On Monday, Karima Tafer, Algeria’s Secretary of State for Mines, met with a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), led by Konstantin Limitovskiy, the head of the investment office. This meeting was hosted at the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies and was part of AIIB’s participation in the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), which are being held in Algeria from May 19 to 22.

AIIB’s Interest in Algeria

Limitovskiy outlined the missions and functions of the AIIB, noting Algeria’s status as one of the founding members since the bank’s inception in 2015. He expressed the AIIB’s commitment to support Algeria’s development in various sectors, particularly in hydrogen production, energy infrastructure projects, emission reduction technologies, and climate change mitigation efforts.

At the conclusion of their discussions, both parties agreed to establish a joint working committee. This committee will focus on exploring avenues for collaboration and identifying priority projects to solidify future partnerships between Algeria and the AIIB.
