On Sunday, the National People’s Assembly (APN) in Algeria held a training session focused on « Smartphone Security » for its members, aimed at raising awareness about various hacking methods and the need for preventative measures and secure practices. This training was organized by the Commission on Education, Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Religious Affairs, under the auspices of APN President Brahim Boughali.
The training session highlighted the risks associated with unauthorized access to personal data through Smartphones, including the damage that could result and methods for prevention. Participants learned about common hacking techniques, including social engineering, sophisticated software attacks, and exploitation of user ignorance—the tendency of individuals to grant unnecessary permissions. Additionally, attendees were informed about secure data sharing practices, best practices when using applications, and preventative measures for safe internet browsing.
Afif Bleila, chairman of the commission, emphasized the initiative’s goal to inform members about the importance of protecting their devices from hacking or attacks that could endanger their interests and those of official institutions. This proactive approach aims to empower members with secure solutions.
During the training, Abdelhamid Kedi, a communication technology and cybersecurity expert, stressed the critical nature of safeguarding personal data on Smartphones and adopting secure habits in professional environments. Kedi emphasized that Smartphone security is an integral part of cybersecurity, noting that hacking poses threats not only to individuals but also to states and institutions and can disrupt public life.
