Reinforcing Algeria-Slovenia Cooperation in Health and Social Security
On a recent official visit to Slovenia, Algerian Health Minister Abdelhak Saihi and Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security Fayçal Bentaleb engaged in discussions with Slovenia’s Health Minister Valentina Prevolnik Rupel. The primary focus of these discussions was to explore and enhance cooperation between Algeria and Slovenia in health and social security sectors.
The meeting, held as part of a broader initiative to strengthen bilateral ties, emphasized the exchange of expertise in hospital management, digitization of health systems, and training of human resources. Both parties expressed a collective desire to advance healthcare collaboration to serve mutual interests and agreed on the essential need for mechanisms to monitor the implementation of the proposed projects.
The discussions also highlighted the establishment of working groups aimed at fostering ongoing coordination between relevant ministries. Future visits for specialized working groups were suggested, along with the creation of a joint roadmap outlining bilateral projects.
In addition to their engagement with Minister Rupel, the Algerian delegation met with Slovenia’s Vice Prime Minister Lukas Mesec, who also holds the portfolio for Labor, Family, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities. Their talks centered on cooperation opportunities in labor, vocational training in health, and social security.
Key topics included mechanisms to support innovation in the job market, the development of professional integration programs, and the significance of continuous training to navigate economic transformations. The two ministers reflected on their countries’ experiences in social security, particularly in service digitization and expanding social coverage.
Both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging technical expertise and enhancing coordination among respective organizations. They acknowledged the need to formalize their collaboration through memorandums of understanding, which would ensure a sustained and structured partnership.
Concluding the talks, both parties praised the strong relationship between Algeria and Slovenia, reaffirming their commitment to build a persistent and fruitful partnership that serves the interests of both nations’ citizens. This engagement is part of a broader shift in Algerian-Slovenian relations, aligned with the recommendations from a recent state visit by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Slovenia.
The meetings signify an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation, focusing on the health and social security domains, and underline the countries’ shared commitment to mutual growth and collaboration.
In summary, the discussions focused on specific areas of cooperation such as healthcare management, training, and social security innovations, aiming to build lasting partnerships that cater to the needs and interests of both countries. This initiative reflects the ongoing evolution of Algeria-Slovenia relations, striving for an impactful and sustainable alliance.
