Sadaoui s’enquiert de la disponibilité des directions de l’Education à organiser les examens scolaires

Summary of the National Education Conference

On Sunday evening, a national conference was held remotely, presided over by the Minister of National Education, Mr. Mohammed Seghir Sadaoui. The aim was to assess the readiness of education authorities to organize national school examinations, as detailed in a ministry communiqué released on Monday.

The meeting included central administration officials, representatives from the National Office of Examinations and Competitions (ONEC), and education directors. During this gathering, the education directors shared their reports on measures taken to ensure examination centers are adequately prepared in terms of materials, logistics, and supervision, allowing candidates to undertake their exams under optimal conditions.

Key Instructions to Education Directors

Minister Sadaoui urged education directors to enhance their on-site visits to examination centers. This was to ensure compliance with the examination organization guide while personally verifying the availability of necessary resources. He emphasized the importance of conducting functional inspections of all mobilized support systems and maintaining constant communication with local governors (walis) for any needs that may fall outside the direct capabilities of the education directorates.

Awareness Campaigns Against Negative Behaviors

The minister highlighted ongoing efforts in collaboration with the National Observatory of Civil Society (ONSC). This initiative aims to educate students on negative behaviors, such as the recent trend of destroying school materials at the end of the academic year. Sadaoui instructed that a campaign be implemented to raise awareness among students about maintaining cleanliness in educational institutions and their surroundings. Instead of discarding their workbooks, students are encouraged to return them to the school administration.

Additionally, Sadaoui recommended that schools allocate space to store these recovered workbooks, which will then be collected and recycled by the Public Recovery Company (ENR) under a prior agreement with the Ministry of Environment. The Ministry also noted that ONSC would engage civil society actors to partake in school awareness campaigns, thus strengthening the outreach to both students and their families.

Challenges in Educational Infrastructure

The meeting also addressed the delays in constructing various educational facilities, which have been highlighted during the minister’s field visits across several wilayas. Sadaoui expressed the necessity of strictly adhering to the provisions of Executive Decree No. 10-04, issued on January 4, 2010, regulating the planning and implementation of the educational map. He pointed out that often, delays in project registration and execution stem from poor site selection, especially when the land needed for development is unavailable.

To mitigate these issues, the minister instructed education directors to coordinate closely with relevant authorities to monitor proposed projects. He emphasized the need to confirm that appropriate conditions are met for the chosen site and to relay all pertinent information to central administration promptly.

Through these initiatives and directives, the Ministry of National Education aims to ensure not only the successful conduct of examinations but also the overall improvement of school environments and infrastructure in Algeria. This comprehensive strategy highlights a commitment to educational excellence and student welfare amidst ongoing challenges.
