Sadaoui reçoit la présidente de l’ONSC
On Saturday, the Algerian Minister of National Education, Mohammed Seghir Sadaoui, met with Ibtissem Hamlaoui, the president of the National Observatory of Civil Society (ONSC). They discussed the creation of a sensitization program aimed at raising awareness among students about behaviors deemed inappropriate or foreign to the Algerian education system, according to a ministry statement.
This meeting is part of a broader strategy adopted by the education sector, which emphasizes collaboration with other ministries, institutions, and constitutional bodies. The goal is to support the educational system in fulfilling its critical role in socialization and guiding students, especially in addressing negative behaviors that have emerged, particularly towards the end of the school year.
During the meeting, Minister Sadaoui highlighted the significant role the ONSC can play in assisting schools with student engagement and social issues that could influence their behavior and thought processes.
Both parties also discussed the growing prevalence of behaviors that are becoming more visible, especially on social media, which negatively portray the educational system’s effectiveness. This reflects a need for urgent intervention.
Hamlaoui expressed her commitment to participate in awareness campaigns within schools, calling for the involvement of various civil society actors. This includes parent associations, Algerian Muslim Scouts, the Algerian Red Crescent, and environmental clubs. The objective is to energize the effort to sensitize students and their parents about the importance of preserving educational materials and maintaining a positive school environment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to establish a collaborative action program directed at students. This initiative will involve multiple stakeholders from civil society to protect students from behaviors and practices inconsistent with the Algerian educational framework.
In summary, the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the ONSC aims to mitigate negative behaviors among students by fostering awareness and engagement through civil society initiatives.
