Summary of Commercial Activity during Aïd El-Fitr in Annaba Region
On the first day of Aïd El-Fitr, strict adherence to the designated operational schedule was observed among traders and production units across the five wilayas overseen by the Annaba regional commerce directorate. This information was confirmed by Abdelatif Aïchaoui, the regional commerce director, who spoke to the APS.
Aïchaoui highlighted the effective oversight conducted by commerce sector officials in the wilayas of Skikda, El Tarf, Guelma, Souk Ahras, and Annaba. These officials monitored the adherence to a system intended for continuous service by bakeries, general food merchants, greengrocers, butchers, supermarkets, and production units of essential goods such as milk, semolina, flour, and bottled water. Their observations indicated a satisfactory operation, ensuring the flow of goods on the festive day.
Within the established operational framework for these five wilayas, a total of 4,525 operators, including merchants, service providers, and production units, were mobilized. This includes 2,448 general food and greengrocery traders, 577 bakeries, and 420 various service outlets. Furthermore, 41 economic units were activated to maintain a steady supply of commonly consumed products, consisting of 32 flour mills, seven dairies, and two mineral water production units.
To efficiently monitor the implementation of this operational system, more than 1,400 agents were deployed throughout the region. Additionally, the launch of the digital application "Mourafik com" has facilitated citizens in locating nearby open businesses during the Aïd festivities.
The overall efforts demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that community needs were met during the holiday, showcasing effective coordination among commerce officials, merchants, and service providers. This collective initiative has contributed to the celebration of Aïd El-Fitr while maintaining vital economic activity within the region.
