Renforcer le rôle de la femme dans la société pour faire face aux défis nationaux
Strengthening the Role of Women in Algerian Society
Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria – On Wednesday, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of the National Observatory of Civil Society (ONSC), emphasized the importance of enhancing women’s roles in society to tackle national challenges and contribute to the country’s development. Her remarks were delivered during a gathering with a group of women from civil society organizations, held at the Djurdjura cinema hall.
This meeting was part of an ongoing series aimed at bolstering the position of Algerian women, raising awareness about national challenges, and facilitating more impactful contributions to the development process. Hamlaoui highlighted the historical significance of women in Algeria, noting their vital contributions during the national liberation war and their continued achievements across various sectors, including political, scientific, cultural, and sports fields.
The president reaffirmed the ONSC’s commitment to increasing women’s involvement in defending Algeria’s fundamental principles and strengthening national unity in the face of threats to its sovereignty. She pointed out that in the current vision of the ONSC, there is a strong emphasis on the status and engagement of Algerian women in political and societal arenas. Hamlaoui firmly stated, "No country or society can claim progress or development without serious and effective contributions from women."
During the meeting, Hamlaoui addressed the concerns of women present, including entrepreneurs who requested better support, as well as rural women who raised issues regarding the lack of training and recognition of their work. Some women also expressed concerns over the criteria required to obtain subsidies.
In conclusion, Hamlaoui assured participants that their concerns would be forwarded to local cells within the wilaya for those issues that could be addressed locally, or directed to relevant central authorities for broader considerations.
This engagement signifies a critical step towards integrating women more effectively into Algeria’s socio-political fabric, which is essential for the nation’s advancement. As outlined by Hamlaoui, the ONSC plays a primary role in fostering these changes, ensuring that women’s voices are heard and their contributions valued, thus laying a strong foundation for an inclusive and prosperous society.
