4th International Women’s Monodrama Festival in El-Oued
The 4th edition of the International Women’s Monodrama Festival will take place from November 7 to 11 at the Mohamed Lamine Lamoudi Cultural Center in El-Oued. This year, the festival is themed "Algeria, Gateway to Monodrama" and will honor the renowned Algerian actress Fatiha Soltane.
Participation and Selection
Fifteen works have been selected from over fifty submissions received by the reading committee. The selection criteria focused on elements specific to the genre, including the written text, performance quality, and stage direction. The festival will feature theatrical troupes from 13 countries beyond Algeria, highlighting its international scope.
Algerian Representations
Algeria will showcase three monodramas:
- "Zigzag" by the Bouderga Association.
- "La Dernière Halte" by the Anis Cultural Cooperative.
- "Figures et Souliers" by the Rayane Association.
International Contributions
Various international works will also be featured:
- "La Folie de l’Amour" by the El-Menzah Cultural and Sports Center (Tunisia).
- "Rêves en Suspens" from El-Beida Theater (Libya).
- "Revers des Jours" by the El-Hanager Arts Center (Egypt).
Additionally, the program will include "Sultana" from the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (RASD), "El-Maâbar" from Palestine, "Passion" from Iraq, "Sabiya" from Oman, and "Le Rêve" from Jordan. There will also be performances by troupes from Iran, Côte d’Ivoire, and street theater groups.

The festival will welcome distinguished troupes from Sweden, Syria, Mauritania, Romania, and Spain, enhancing the cultural diversity and appeal of the event.
