The Algerian national local team (A’) conducted its third training session on the main pitch at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba on Wednesday evening. The first leg of the qualifying match against Gambia is scheduled to take place between May 2 and May 4 in Banjul, followed by the return match in Algiers from May 9 to May 11. Should Algeria qualify, they would be placed in Group C for the final stage, alongside Uganda, Niger, Guinea, and another team that qualifies from a secondary playoff.
In total, 19 countries will compete in the upcoming CHAN tournament, which will be held from August 2 to August 30 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the 2024 edition of CHAN due to delays in preparations for the tournament.
Recalling the last CHAN edition held in Algeria in 2023, the Senegalese team emerged victorious after defeating Algeria in the final, which ended in a penalty shootout, following a goalless match.
