plus de 4.000 commerçants mobilisés pour la permanence durant les jours de l’Aïd El-Adha
Summary of the Program for Aïd El-Adha in Algiers
During the Aïd El-Adha celebrations, the municipality of Algiers has mobilized 4,201 merchants to ensure the availability of essential goods and services. This initiative aims to meet the consumer demand during the holiday period. Abdelwahab Harkas, the director of internal trade and national market regulation for the Algiers region, confirmed this program’s implementation while inspecting the readiness of merchants on the first day of the holiday in Draria.
Essential Services Provided
The merchants involved in the program include various essential sectors, such as bakeries, grocery stores, fruit and vegetable sellers, cafes, and multi-service kiosks. Harkas expressed satisfaction with the compliance of the merchants with the operational guidelines for the three-day festival, explaining that 170 control agents were deployed to monitor adherence to the program.
Technological Innovations
To facilitate consumers’ access to services during the holiday, a new application, "Mourafik Com," has been introduced. This app allows citizens across all provinces to locate active stores during Aïd El-Adha and report any merchants failing to comply with the operational schedule. Harkas warned that violators could face fines ranging from 30,000 to 200,000 Algerian Dinars (DA) and a potential closure of their business for a minimum of 30 days.
Local Infrastructure
The inspection visit covered several communes in Draria, which revealed the presence of 459 bakeries, 1,652 food shops, seven dairies, and nine flour mills committed to providing services during Aïd El-Adha. Dehar Layachi, a representative from the Department of Commerce, assured that the number of mobilized merchants is adequate to meet the anticipated demand for products and services during this festive season. Continued oversight by the Department of Internal Commerce will ensure that commercial activity resumes normally after the holidays.
Community Response
Local citizens have responded positively to the availability of services ensured by the permanent operation system during the holiday. Many expressed that it allows for a reliable supply of necessary products and enables consumers to shop peacefully.
Conclusion
The initiative not only demonstrates the effort to tackle the increased demand during Aïd El-Adha but also showcases the commitment to consumer satisfaction and market regulation in Algiers. With the integrated use of technology and strict monitoring, the program aims to create a seamless shopping experience for residents, ensuring that festivities can be celebrated without disruption.
