Visit to Key Road Project by Algerian Officials

On Saturday, the Algerian Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, alongside the Governor of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, visited the construction site of a significant road project connecting the 5 July Interchange to Kheraicia. This visit highlighted the urgent need to complete the project within the contracted deadlines, as reported by the ministry.

Project Overview

The 10-kilometer road is anticipated to be a crucial route aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in various Algiers neighborhoods, including El Achour, Draria, and Baba Hassen. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the road network and improve transportation conditions across the capital.

Progress Inspection

During the site visit, Minister Rekhroukh assessed the progress of the first two segments of the project, noting that a significant portion of the work has been completed. He also inquired about the initiation of the third segment, which will connect Baba Hassen to Kheraicia.

He emphasized the importance of accelerating the construction pace by mobilizing all necessary resources, both material and human, to ensure the project’s timely delivery. Minister Rekhroukh stated that it is not feasible to complete the first two segments without also finishing the third, as the project is intrinsically linked. Delivering parts of the project separately would merely shift congestion to other areas, which would not resolve the underlying traffic issues.

Strategic Objectives

This integrated project is part of a comprehensive public works strategy aimed at optimizing road traffic and providing flexible and safe mobility alternatives. The minister explained that the approach prioritizes effectiveness, quality, and sustainability in national infrastructure.

Management and Coordination

Highlighting the importance of effective management in large public projects, Minister Rekhroukh urged continued coordination among all stakeholders. This collaboration is crucial for the smooth progression of work and to ensure the delivery of the project in ways that best serve the citizens.

In summary, the visit by Minister Rekhroukh not only served to inspect the progress of a vital transportation project but also underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing Algiers’ infrastructure, thereby improving the quality of life for its residents.
