Summary: Strengthening Collaboration for Financial Inclusion in Algeria

On Sunday in Algiers, the Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Affairs, Soraya Mouloudji, met with Mohand Bouraï, the president of the Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF) and General Director of the Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (BADR). The meeting aimed to enhance partnerships and cooperation within national bodies regarding the promotion of initiatives in the domain of national solidarity.

A significant outcome of this dialogue was the commitment to formalize several practical proposals through a cooperation agreement. One of the key initiatives agreed upon is the development of an action program scheduled between April 20 and April 27. This initiative will be conducted across institutions focused on education and training that fall under the scope of the national solidarity sector, aligning with the celebration of the Arab Financial Inclusion Day on April 27 each year.

The proposed program includes a model lesson targeting children enrolled in specialized education institutions nationwide, as well as guidance for individuals with specific needs in entrepreneurship. The ABEF branches, along with various financial and banking institutions, will be integral to enhancing and supervising this program.

Moreover, the agreement emphasizes the need to bolster professional integration and training opportunities for individuals with specific needs within banking and financial sectors, prioritizing opportunities in finance and banking according to distinct specialties. It is aimed at providing internships for this demographic and actively involving specialized institutions in events related to persons with specific needs within the ABEF’s agenda, especially around significant national and international observances.

The ABEF has also committed to supporting the National Council for Persons with Specific Needs in the execution of its annual program. The ministry’s services will partake in activities that align with the objectives of the Association, with plans for further meetings between the ministry’s and ABEF’s representatives to devise a strategic action plan aimed at realizing the agreed objectives.

This initiative exemplifies Algeria’s progressive steps toward greater financial inclusion and support for vulnerable sections of society, paving the way for a more inclusive economy where individuals with specific needs can thrive professionally and socially.

In summary, the meeting reflects a shared commitment to bolster financial inclusion, enhance educational and professional opportunities for those with specific needs, and strengthen inter-institutional collaboration, showcasing a multidimensional approach to fostering a more inclusive society in Algeria.
