Mme Tafer reçoit une délégation omanaise intéressée par l’investissement en Algérie
On Monday, Karima Tafer, the Secretary of State for Mining under the Ministry of Energy in Algeria, met with a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman. This delegation included officials from Oman’s Investment Authority and representatives from Minerals Development Oman, aimed at discussing partnership opportunities in mining and mineral exploitation. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energy, attended by Belkacem Soltani, the CEO of Sonarem, and other senior officials in the sector.
During the discussions, both parties highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Algeria and Oman, which have seen significant advancements following the state visit of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Oman. Tafer provided a comprehensive overview of Algeria’s mining sector, emphasizing the country’s significant potential, the legal framework governing investments, and the reforms being undertaken to create an attractive environment for investment and collaboration.
The meeting also reviewed several promising projects proposed by Sonarem, outlining cooperative and partnership opportunities. Details of these projects are expected to be further explored in upcoming bilateral meetings.
Members of the Omani delegation expressed their satisfaction with the quality of relations between the two countries and their keen interest in exploring cooperative opportunities in Algeria’s mining sector. They also communicated Oman’s desire to establish long-term strategic partnerships.
The ministry noted that technical meetings are in the pipeline to facilitate discussions between the Omani delegation and representatives from Sonarem, the National Agency for Mining Activities (ANAM), and the Algerian Geological Service Agency (ASGA). The aim of these talks is to deepen discussions and define implementation mechanisms for mutually beneficial cooperation projects.
Overall, this collaborative initiative underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their bilateral relations and explore new avenues for investment in the mining industry, a sector identified as critical to economic development in both Algeria and Oman. The meeting marks an essential step toward realizing these mutual goals.
