On Thursday at the Notre-Dame de Toutes-Aides school in Nantes, a 16-year-old boy fatally stabbed a classmate and injured three others. His actions were halted by school staff, including the IT manager and the principal, who confronted him as he attempted to flee. The assailant was later apprehended and admitted to psychiatric care. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau and Education Minister Élisabeth Borne praised the teachers’ bravery for intervening and ensuring student safety, which prevented further casualties. President Emmanuel Macron also commended their courage. Classes for primary students are continuing, but those for older students are suspended, with a psychological support unit available.
