Mesures spéciales pour assurer l’approvisionnement en eau durant les jours de l’Aïd El-Adha
In anticipation of Aïd El-Adha, the Algérienne des eaux (ADE) has implemented significant measures to ensure a consistent supply of drinking water. Salah Eddine Charit, the Director of Client Relations and Communication at ADE, made these disclosures during a press conference in Algiers on Tuesday.
Charit outlined a special plan designed to maintain water supply before, during, and after the festivities. This includes gradually filling 8,620 reservoirs across various provinces with over 7.35 million cubic meters of water, which will be made available on the morning of Aïd. The ADE team has also undertaken thorough cleaning and sterilization of the reservoirs and has mobilized wells, treatment stations, and pumping facilities.
To enhance water flow and pressure throughout the extensive network, which spans approximately 95,000 kilometers, ADE conducted preemptive maintenance on all hydraulic installations and repaired leaks. Charit ensured that the water supply program will be « fair and balanced. »
To address potential disruptions, ADE has established a special intervention program for the Aïd days. This plan includes deploying maintenance teams working in shifts to ensure a 24/7 service. They have also prepared water tankers and mobile maintenance crews ready for quick action if problems arise. Additionally, backup generators have been tested to ensure network stability.
Furthermore, ADE is conducting a public awareness campaign to encourage citizens to conserve water and prevent waste. This includes distributing brochures in public places and broadcasting informational spots on local radio and social media platforms.
Haouchène Ramdane, the Central Director for Operations and Maintenance, reassured that both Aïd El-Adha and the upcoming summer season will proceed smoothly. This confidence stems from ongoing projects in several regions, with dams filled to 41.29% capacity and the commissioning of large seawater desalination plants aimed at enhancing the country’s water security.
