On Tuesday, in Algiers, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Land Planning, Brahim Merad, recognized the commendable efforts of the Civil Protection services and the sacrifices made by its personnel in carrying out their duties. His remarks came during a graduation ceremony for new recruits at the Civil Protection Training and Intervention Unit in Dar El-Beïda.
In his statements to the press, Merad highlighted that the new graduates would strengthen the existing units deployed across the country. He announced plans to recruit over 2,200 new personnel, including officers, agents, and non-commissioned officers, as the current situation necessitates bolstering human resources within the service.
Furthermore, with the summer season approaching—a time characterized by an increased risk of fires—the minister mentioned that the Civil Protection units have been equipped to handle any emergencies that may arise. He noted that 2024 had witnessed fewer damages from fires, indicating the effectiveness of their preparedness.
During the ceremony, Merad presided over the graduation of the 17th promotion of lieutenants, the 50th promotion of sub-lieutenants, and the 48th promotion of agents within the Civil Protection force. The newly minted graduates include 58 lieutenants, 56 sub-lieutenants, and a noteworthy 2,963 agents, among which 29 are women. This achievement is attributed to the rigorous training provided by an esteemed cadre of instructors from the Civil Protection sector, reflecting a commitment to fostering high standards in emergency management.
