Sofiane Chaïb, the Algerian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, recently held a coordination and guidance meeting in Brussels, Belgium, with several heads of consular posts. This meeting is part of his official visit to Belgium, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs on Sunday.

During the meeting, Chaïb gathered heads from various consulates, including Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Lille, Strasbourg, Paris, and other consular offices located in Bobigny, Bordeaux, Créteil, Moulins, Metz, Nanterre, Nantes, and Pontoise. The gathering aimed to assess the efforts made by the consular network towards the implementation of the ministry’s plan to modernize the consular system. This modernization is focused on enhancing services that cater to the needs and well-being of the Algerian community abroad.

The statement from the ministry highlighted that several directives and orientations were issued during the meeting with the goal of continuously improving the effectiveness and quality of consular services. An emphasis was placed on maintaining ongoing communication with community members and strengthening their ties to Algeria.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the positive impact of recent measures aimed at facilitating the entry procedures for Algerian citizens returning to the country. Chaïb stressed the importance of welcoming members of the community at consular representations abroad. He also called for an approach that encourages participation, direct consultation, and active listening. Additionally, he advocated for fostering a spirit of initiative and easing the modernization processes within administrative and consular management.

Overall, the meeting highlighted the Algerian government’s commitment to improving services for its citizens overseas, with an emphasis on the importance of staying connected with the national community while also adapting to their evolving needs.
