University of Continuing Education (UFC) Marks 35 Years with New Opportunities for International Students

On Sunday, M. Yahia Djaafri, the rector of the University of Continuing Education (UFC) Didouche-Mourad, announced exciting developments for the institution during its 35th-anniversary celebration. Beginning next academic year, UFC plans to welcome international students by introducing new specialties across various disciplines.

In his address, Djaafri encouraged international students to enroll in these specialized programs designed to cater to a global audience. Currently, UFC serves approximately 75,000 students, bolstered by a faculty of 150 permanent educators, around 3,000 adjunct instructors, and a support staff of 2,200. This represents a significant evolution since the 1990s, when the university had only a handful of students, faculty, and staff. Djaafri emphasized UFC’s commitment to delivering quality education that aligns with public demands for knowledge acquisition and skill enhancement.

Furthermore, Djaafri highlighted UFC’s economic role, showcasing its enterprise incubator, which supports project leaders and hosts active scientific clubs in diverse fields. This initiative not only fosters academic growth but also stimulates entrepreneurial ventures among students.

The celebration coincided with Algeria’s observance of Africa Day, commemorating the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). Djaafri took this moment to recognize Algeria’s historical contributions toward the sovereignty of multiple African nations.

In addition, M. Ammar Haiahem, rector of the University of Algiers 1 Benyoucef-Benkhedda, acknowledged UFC’s pivotal position within the academic landscape, branding it as the largest university in the country by student population.

The event further included a video showcasing UFC’s developmental journey and featured two presentations discussing Algeria’s pioneering role in advancing the African continent’s progress.
