Boumerdes: Commitment to Environmental Management and Quality of Life
On Thursday in Boumerdes, the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Nadjiba Djilali, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing environmental project management infrastructure. She expressed the state’s determination to implement significant improvements in the sustainable management of environmental projects across various sectors.
Following an inspection visit, Djilali addressed the media, stating that the ongoing initiatives under the national strategy for sustainable waste management reflect the government’s dedication to advancing infrastructure solutions that promise a qualitative leap in environmental governance. She asserted that these projects serve as a cornerstone for effective waste management, utilizing modern and environmentally-friendly technologies.
Djilali noted that Boumerdes plays a vital role in national efforts to promote sustainable development. The region is recognized for its existing environmental infrastructures, positioning it as a "model to follow" for establishing a clean environment and a healthy living space for future generations. These advancements are seen as essential for preserving environmental integrity and improving residents’ quality of life.
During her visit to the region, the minister attended a presentation on the local environmental sector and awarded training certificates to project initiators under a national training program managed by the National Conservatory for Environmental Training (CNFE). Djilali highlighted this initiative as a significant step towards supporting youth involvement in the green economy, encouraging innovative environmental projects.
In Corso, Djilali inspected the construction site for the third cell of the Technical Waste Landfill Center, overseeing progress on this critical infrastructure development. Subsequently, she traveled to Ouled Salah in the municipality of Cap Djinet, where she participated in a reforestation effort aimed at concluding the national reforestation campaign. This campaign benefits regions affected by forest fires and those involved in the "green dam" initiative.
The Minister conveyed that this reforestation campaign sends a strong message: Algeria is committed to restoring its vegetative cover and strengthening its capacity to address climate change challenges. Djilali emphasized that this is a national duty requiring collective effort to rejuvenate green spaces and ensure their sustainability and protection as a shared priority.
In summary, the initiatives unfolding in Boumerdes illustrate the government’s proactive stance in environmental management, aiming to create a sustainable and healthy environment for current and future generations. The combination of modern waste management infrastructure, training programs for young entrepreneurs, and reforestation campaigns showcases a multifaceted approach to fostering an environmentally-conscious society, ensuring Algeria’s resilience against ecological challenges.
