On Thursday, Sifi Ghrieb, Algeria’s Minister of Industry, visited the "Chemiserie Djen-Djen" factory in Jijel. During this visit, he urged factory management to develop a standardized design for school uniforms, specifically tabliers for primary school students, with the goal of implementing this model by the 2025-2026 academic year.
The minister’s visit, which marks the second day in the region, entailed touring the factory’s workshops. He emphasized the urgency of creating a unified tablier model and suggested its presentation to a committee comprised of education stakeholders and fashion designers tasked with selecting the optimal design. This initiative aims to introduce the new uniform within Jijel’s primary schools at the beginning of the next school year, with the intent to eventually expand this uniform model to schools across Algeria.
Ghrieb also stressed the importance of ensuring the quality and affordability of the uniforms, recognizing that local authorities in Jijel have expressed a willingness to purchase a substantial quantity for distribution at the onset of the coming school term. The Minister’s enthusiasm for the production of new men’s shirt designs that align with contemporary fashion trends was evident, as he looks forward to contributions from "Chemiserie Djen-Djen" and the national clothing company based in Bejaia. He expects these companies to deliver high-quality shirts and apparel in anticipation of the summer season.
Aside from the focus on school uniforms, Ghrieb inspected the "Kotama Agrifood" complex, particularly areas 14, 15, and 16, which lead into oil seed crushing and oil extraction operations. He attended the initial "dry" operational tests at the primary production unit for oils and meal, expressing satisfaction that construction on the complex is nearing completion and is scheduled to be ready before May.
The minister’s second day also included a visit to a tannery located in Heddada, within the capital of Jijel. Following this, he proceeded to the commune of El Milia to review ongoing developments concerning the industrial zone project in Bellara. This visit is part of a broader initiative to bolster local industries, improve employment opportunities, and enhance the quality of products manufactured in Algeria.
