On Thursday, Noureddine Yassaâ, the Secretary of State for Renewable Energies under Algeria’s Minister of Energy, met with Germany’s ambassador to Algeria. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the advancements made in bilateral cooperation and joint projects, particularly in renewable energies, hydrogen development, and energy efficiency, as indicated in a statement from the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies.

During their meeting, attended by various officials from the ministry, Yassaâ and the German ambassador commended the progress on joint initiatives, notably the “TaqatHy” project, aimed at enhancing technical skills across the entire renewable energy and hydrogen value chain. Furthermore, they discussed the « South 2 Corridor » project, which is significant for positioning Algeria as a key supplier of clean hydrogen to Europe.

The discussions also served as an opportunity to assess the state of cooperation between Algeria and Germany in the fields of renewable energy, hydrogen development, and energy efficiency. They explored investment prospects between companies from both nations, as well as enhancing the exchange of experiences and expertise. Additionally, they focused on technology transfer, training, and collaborative efforts to reduce carbon footprints in line with global energy transition goals.

Yassaâ emphasized the critical importance of the partnership between Algeria and Germany in renewable energy sectors. He highlighted Algeria’s commitment to developing sustainable projects that enhance its strategic position in clean energies, leveraging its vast natural and human resources.

In response, the German ambassador expressed his country’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Algeria, acknowledging the significant potential within Algeria’s energy sector, especially regarding renewable energies and green hydrogen. He affirmed Germany’s readiness to support Algerian projects in these areas through direct investments and long-term strategic partnerships, as concluded in the ministry’s statement.
