In a recent visit to Aïn Defla, Environment and Quality of Life Minister Nadjiba Djilali commended the significant efforts made by both central and local authorities to raise citizen awareness regarding environmental preservation. Accompanied by Wilaya authorities, including Governor Aissa Aziz Bouras, the minister emphasized the ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of environmental protection among the populace.

During her tour, Djilali launched a campaign to plant 1,000 trees—comprising both forestry and fruit varieties—at the Sidi M’hamed Ben Taïba dam in Arib to mark International Day of Forests, observed annually on March 21. This event included activities celebrating various significant dates, such as the Arab Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and World Meteorological Day (both on March 23) and World Water Day on March 22.

The minister remarked that these events serve as « an educational campaign aimed at promoting ecological tourism and respect for the environment, as well as instilling this culture in children. » This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to environmental education and sustainable practices.

During her visit to the botanical garden in Miliana, Djilali underscored the necessity of utilizing treated wastewater for the irrigation of public gardens. She also pointed out the importance of making such spaces accessible to the public to bolster environmental education within the community.

Additionally, the minister inspected the technical waste disposal center in Aïn Defla and examined sewage discharge points in Oued Zeboudj, El Hassania, and the Boumedfaa area, including the confluence points and sewage discharge locations in its eastern region. These inspections are part of the broader strategy to address waste management and pollution, ultimately demonstrating the government’s dedication to enhancing environmental quality and public health.

Djilali’s initiatives reflect a multi-faceted approach to environmental management, focusing on tree planting, wastewater management, and public education, all while engaging communities in sustainable practices. This holistic consideration is essential for fostering a deep-rooted consciousness regarding ecological issues among citizens of Aïn Defla and beyond.
