Summary of the Upcoming FIFA Arab Cup 2025
The draw for the second edition of the FIFA Arab Cup "Qatar 2025" has been rescheduled from its original date of May 24 to May 25, as announced by the organizing committee in Doha. The tournament is set to take place from December 1 to 18, 2025. Algeria, the winner of the inaugural edition in 2021, has been invited by FIFA to defend its title.
In the first tournament held in Doha, Algeria triumphed over Tunisia with a score of 2-0 after extra time, with goals from Sayoud and Brahimi securing their victory. This new edition will feature participation from 16 nations, with nine teams already having qualified based on the FIFA world rankings. The remaining seven teams will secure their spots following qualification matches scheduled for November.
In conjunction with the Arab Cup draw, there will also be a draw for the final phase of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will take place in Qatar and include 48 participating nations. To prepare for the upcoming Arab Cup and the delayed African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), which will now be held in 2025 across Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has appointed Madjid Bougherra as head coach for the national team composed of local players.
This preparation highlights Algeria’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence in international football, aiming to build upon their past successes.
