The 24th edition of the Arab Athletics Championship, held in Oran, has concluded successfully, with Majed Bassenbel, the Secretary-General of the Arab Athletics Union, praising its organization and execution. He noted that this edition was the most successful in recent years, mainly due to the excellent facilities and infrastructure provided by Algeria, particularly the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex, which meets international standards and can host major competitions.

Bassenbel emphasized that Algeria has set a high benchmark for future hosts of the championship, challenging them to match this level of excellence. He highlighted the intense competition levels, especially in the sprint events such as the 200 meters, 400 meters, and the 4×400 meters relays for both men and women, especially on the final day.

The championship lasted five days and featured 160 athletes from 12 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Jordan, Djibouti, Tunisia, along with the host nation, Algeria. The event was coordinated by the Algerian Athletics Federation in collaboration with the Arab Athletics Union.

Algeria took the lead in the medal standings, securing a total of 53 medals, comprising 18 gold medals, reinforcing its position in Arab athletics. Bassenbel also commended the organizational efforts of the Algerian Athletics Federation, which contributed significantly to the event’s success.

In conclusion, the championship not only showcased the talents of the athletes but also highlighted Algeria’s capabilities as a host, setting a standard for future events in the region.
