On Friday, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani of Mauritania met with Hama Salama, the President of the Sahrawi National Council. Following the meeting, Hama Salama indicated that they discussed several mutual interests and explored ways to strengthen the already robust ties between the two nations. Salama highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between Mauritania and the Sahrawi Republic.
President Ghazouani also tasked Salama with conveying a friendly message of fraternity back to President Ghali. Salama took this opportunity to congratulate the Mauritanian leadership on the recent election of Sidi Ould Tah as the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), which illustrates the growing prominence of Mauritania in regional affairs.
In attendance during this audience were various officials from both sides, underscoring the significance of the meeting. The Mauritanian delegation included key figures like the minister in charge of the presidential cabinet and the director of external security. From the Sahrawi side, military and security officials were present, indicating the strategic nature of their discussions.
