At this gathering, Ambassador Guangli conveyed heartfelt congratulations from his Chinese counterpart on Mr. Nasri’s recent election as President of the Council. The two leaders took the opportunity to reflect on the historically strong and exemplary relationship between their nations.

Key discussions during the meeting included expanding fields of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the promise of their strategic partnership. In the course of the meeting, Mr. Nasri also commended the "noble positions" of China’s diplomacy. He reiterated Algeria’s foreign policy principles, which firmly reject interference in the internal affairs of states and oppose colonization in Palestine and Western Sahara. He affirmed Algeria’s commitment to supporting the right of peoples to self-determination and independence, drawing inspiration from the historical context of November.

Mr. Nasri expressed his resolve, as President of the Council of the Nation, to utilize all parliamentary mechanisms to fortify cooperative relationships. He commended Algeria’s role, particularly since its accession to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member, in advocating for the rights of peoples and promoting international peace and security.

In this context, Mr. Guangli assured his Algerian counterpart of China’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state along the borders recognized in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Moreover, he stated that resolving the issue of Western Sahara requires adherence to international legality and the relevant United Nations resolutions.
