Summary of the Meeting between Algeria and Slovenia
On a recent visit to Ljubljana, Slovenia, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune highlighted the strong alignment between Algeria and Slovenia on various key issues. In a joint statement with Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar following their discussions, President Tebboune emphasized the willingness of Algeria to meet Slovenia’s gas needs.
During the talks, both leaders acknowledged their shared perspectives on several urgent matters, including illegal migration, artificial intelligence, space exploration, water management, and environmental challenges. President Tebboune stated that this mutual understanding paves the way for establishing robust and exemplary relations between Algeria and Slovenia, characterized by collaboration between a European state and a North African nation.
Tebboune pointed out Slovenia’s significant potential, which could greatly benefit Algerian youth. He affirmed Algeria’s reliability as a partner in gas supply, stating confidently that Algeria is well-prepared to address Slovenia’s energy requirements and will not be adversely affected by future changes in the global energy landscape.
In addition to energy cooperation, President Tebboune commended Slovenia’s principled stances on international issues, particularly its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He noted that Slovenia was the first European nation to recognize Palestine, calling this action a commendable example for other countries. He also acknowledged Slovenia’s supportive position regarding the Western Sahara conflict, reiterating Algeria’s hope for a mutually acceptable resolution supervised by the United Nations. This would enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination through a referendum.
In conclusion, the meeting reinforced a strategic partnership between Algeria and Slovenia, rooted in common viewpoints and mutual support on critical regional and international matters. This collaboration holds potential benefits for both nations, particularly in energy and youth development.
