On a significant recent occasion in Algiers, the president of the Algerian National People’s Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Mohamed Khouane, co-chaired a meeting with Mr. Engels Martin Pineda Garcia, the president of the Central American Parliament’s (Parlacen) Foreign Affairs and Migration Committee. This meeting marks a pivotal step in revitalizing relations between Algeria and Central America.
Mr. Khouane emphasized that the visit by the Parlacen delegation is a historic milestone in strengthening the ties between Algeria and Central America. He underlined the commitment of the Algerian Parliamentary Assembly to enhance relations across various sectors. The meeting was attended by key figures, including the APN’s vice-president, Mr. Hani Ahcene, presidents of friendship committees with Latin American and Caribbean nations, and other important officials from both sides.
During the discussions, Mr. Khouane reiterated Algeria’s principled positions, which emphasize support for just causes globally and advocate for the right of peoples to self-determination. He highlighted Algeria’s approach to resolving conflicts, particularly in regions like the Sahel.
In return, Mr. Pineda Garcia expressed satisfaction with the meeting, noting that there is a shared perspective between the Parlacen and the APN on crucial global issues. He conveyed a strong desire to fortify and advance cooperation between both parliamentary bodies.
As the working session concluded, both parties reviewed their mutual interests and expressed a readiness to establish the groundwork for future parliamentary cooperation. This collaboration aims to support just causes and meet common interests effectively.
