le cahier des charges sera prêt « dans deux semaines »
Summary:
In a recent forum hosted by the daily publication El Moudjahid, Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, announced that the regulatory framework for mobile 5G networks is expected to be finalized within two weeks. The government is prepared to launch these networks in the second half of 2025, with detailed studies being conducted to meet the objectives set forth by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Zerrouki indicated that once administrative and legal preparations are completed, a national call for tenders will be issued, inviting telecommunications operators to submit their technical proposals and secure operational licenses. He emphasized that the 5G technology is designed mainly for industries, aiming to transform sectors like healthcare, industry, and education through innovative applications, significantly enhancing internet speed compared to 4G.
Reflecting on advancements in the telecommunications sector, the minister highlighted efforts to improve internet services, notably the installation of approximately 265,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables. He also addressed the enhancement of postal services, mentioning initiatives to decrease downtime for automatic teller repairs and ensuring periodic maintenance through Algeria Post services.
Zerrouki discussed ongoing efforts to restructure the postal sector to meet modern demands, which includes plans for developing a "virtual card" for smartphones. He reassured users about the security of the "Baridimob" application while stressing the importance of vigilance and caution in using electronic services, similar to other apps available in the market.
The overall goal of these initiatives is to modernize Algeria’s telecommunications and postal services, making them more efficient and responsive to current technological advancements and user needs.
