The National Organization of Algerian Sports Journalists (ONJSA), in partnership with the National Blood Agency (ANS), is organizing a blood donation campaign on Thursday at 9:30 PM at the Coupole of the Olympic Complex (OCO) Mohamed Boudiaf in Algiers. This event coincides with World Blood Donor Day, as announced in a recent ONJSA press release.
The blood donation initiative aligns with the ongoing National Press Futsal Tournament 2025 and welcomes participation from a wide array of figures within the national sports community. Individuals such as members from the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee, various sports federations, local clubs, managers, coaches, athletes, referees, fans, journalists, and celebrities are encouraged to participate. The event seeks to draw in a substantial turnout from the general public as well.
This campaign aims to establish itself as a regular tradition while addressing the critical decline in attendance at blood donation facilities. The blood collection will take place in the main hall of the Coupole, which will be appropriately equipped for this purpose. Medical professionals from the ANS, representing the Ministry of Health, will oversee the procedure, with support from the management of the Olympic Complex Mohamed Boudiaf.
Under the theme “A drop of blood, a key to saving another’s life,” the initiative has been designed to ensure that all safety protocols are met, reflecting a commitment to humanitarian efforts. Additionally, the ONJSA emphasizes that, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, the campaign aims to foster solidarity and generosity among both the sports community and the wider public.
