The Algerian Ministry of Justice recently announced a series of training sessions aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of judges and judicial officials. Starting from Sunday, the training will continue until the following Sunday, focusing on various areas pertinent to contemporary legal practice.

Key Training Sessions

  1. Judicial Procedures for Criminal Sessions:
A group of 25 magistrates will engage in a specialized training session concentrating on the preparatory procedures for criminal sessions and the operations of criminal courts. This initiative seeks to update their expertise in line with recent legislative changes, and it will last until May 15.

  2. International Judicial Cooperation:
In collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Algeria, 16 magistrates are set to participate in intensive training on "International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters." Scheduled from May 12 to May 17 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, this program aims to enhance collaboration between Swiss and Algerian judicial authorities, particularly concerning asset seizures and restitution.

  3. Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence:
Another group of 25 magistrates will undertake an in-depth session on "Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence" at the Supreme School of Magistracy until May 15. This training, conducted in partnership with the European cybercrime program, aims to equip judges with essential knowledge about handling cybercriminal activities and electronic proof.

  4. Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling:
Under the "Himaya" project initiated by Interpol, two magistrates will attend a national workshop focusing on human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and related financial investigations. This training will take place at the Ali-Tounsi Police Academy from this Sunday until May 15, organized by the National Security Directorate in conjunction with Interpol.

  5. Public Accounting Principles:
From May 11 to May 15, 25 judicial officials will join a training session on the principles of public accounting in cooperation with the National School of Greffiers. This training aims to refine the skills of officials responsible for revenue collection, facilitating a better understanding of legal parameters and accounting standards.

  6. Service Enhancement for Justice Systems:
An additional 100 judicial officials will participate in an online training session focused on "Receiving, Guiding, and Services of the One-Stop Shop for Justice Promotion." Scheduled for Monday, this training seeks to develop the competencies of staff tasked with information and orientation duties, enhancing public service delivery in the justice sector and addressing citizen concerns effectively.

Objectives of the Training Programs

These training initiatives are strategically designed to ensure that both magistrates and officials remain adept in their roles, reflecting the evolving landscape of the legal system. By enhancing knowledge in crucial areas such as criminal procedures, international cooperation, cybercrime, and public accounting, the Ministry of Justice underscores its commitment to professional development within Algeria’s judiciary. The overall aim is to improve judicial efficiency, promote cooperation, and provide better public services in the justice sector.

By focusing on contemporary issues, such as cybercrime, international judicial cooperation, and public accounting, these initiatives aim to ensure the judicial system remains responsive to current legal challenges and effectively serves the public.
