On Monday in Algiers, the Minister of Habitat, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, announced the commencement of construction for approximately 250,000 housing units across Algeria in the first half of this year. This initiative is part of a broader national program aimed at constructing up to two million housing units by 2029.

Minister Belaribi made these remarks during a visit to the 27th International Construction, Public Works, and Building Materials Salon (Batimatec 2025) held at the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes. He emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards in the construction industry and highlighted the need to enhance national capacities for producing iron and steel. He praised the progress made by domestic companies in this sector.

The exhibition, covering 40,000 square meters, showcased a significant turnout from both national and international participants, featuring companies from around 15 countries, including China, Turkey, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The event underscores Algeria’s commitment to developing its construction and public works sectors, indicating a drive towards enhancing infrastructure and meeting housing demands.

In attendance were several government officials, highlighting the collaborative approach towards achieving these ambitious housing goals.
