l’Algérie appelle à un arrêt permanent et total de l’agression sioniste contre Ghaza

Summary of Algeria’s Call for Action Regarding Gaza Crisis

In New York, Algeria’s representative to the United Nations, Toufik Laid Koudri, delivered a passionate address urging for an immediate and total halt to the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza. This plea comes after nearly 19 months of relentless attacks on a defenseless population and over 70 days of an unyielding blockade that has created a dire humanitarian crisis.

Koudri articulated the gravity of the situation during a Security Council meeting focusing on the Middle East, lamenting the moral decay associated with the silence and complicity of those who fail to respond. He painted a harrowing picture of life in Gaza, where only death, bombs, and bullets are permitted entry, while essential supplies like milk, water, and medicine remain prohibited. Innocent children face starvation and are left to endure the anguish of hunger amidst the blockade.

The Algerian diplomat condemned the dehumanizing conditions that have forced the people of Gaza into a state of despair, highlighting that they are deprived of all but fear and death. He posited that the international community’s failure to act reveals a collapse of shared values that once united humanity. Koudri characterized the ongoing blockade as a systematic crime of famine targeting over two million Palestinians. He demanded accountability for those responsible, especially as reports detail the deaths of elderly individuals and malnourished children due to this intentional deprivation.

Despite the humanitarian disaster, Koudri pointed out that over 3,000 trucks and 116,000 metric tons of food are currently awaiting clearance to enter Gaza, a situation that violates international law and decisions by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). He criticized the occupier for promoting a deceptive humanitarian plan that has been rejected by both the UN and humanitarian organizations for being inadequate to meet the urgent and basic needs of the population.

Koudri emphasized that the Security Council, charged with maintaining international peace and security, must take a stand and listen to the voices of Gaza. He urged the world not to remain passive while witnessing the systematic extermination of a besieged people deprived of their fundamental rights to life.

In conclusion, he called for a definitive end to the unjust aggression against Gaza, the lifting of the blockade, the opening of passageways for humanitarian aid, and the cessation of deportation operations. He reiterated the Palestinian people’s desire for a homeland, dignity, and a just, lasting peace with Palestine as an independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
