Summary of the Abattoir Preparations for Aïd El-Adha in El Harrach, Algeria

As Aïd El-Adha approaches, the El Harrach abattoir in Algeria is fully prepared to assist citizens in conducting their sacrificial rites safely and hygienically. According to Mourad Kaci, head of the abattoir and cold storage units, extensive measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth process for the public.

Facilities and Capacity

To facilitate the sacrificial process, the abattoir has set up two designated slaughter rooms. These facilities can accommodate up to 1,000 sheep and 100 cattle simultaneously. Additionally, five cold storage rooms have been established, offering a total storage capacity of 2,407 cubic meters. This equates to the ability to store 757 sheep and 140 cattle, thereby ensuring fresh meat preservation.

Veterinary Oversight

To ensure animal health and safety, three veterinarians will oversee the slaughtering process. Kaci advises citizens who prefer to sacrifice animals at home to visit the abattoir if they have any doubts about the proper procedures.

Hygiene Measures

The abattoir has deployed a hygiene service comprising 17 agents. Their responsibilities include the removal of solid and liquid waste after the slaughtering process to mitigate any risks of bacterial growth or disease transmission. Furthermore, they are tasked with skinning the sacrificed animals for further processing.

Contingency Preparations

In preparation for any possible challenges, five additional staff members, including a workshop supervisor, are on standby for immediate response. This readiness reflects the abattoir’s commitment to seamless operations during this peak time.

Security Arrangements

To ensure a secure environment, 17 security personnel and a coordinator are assigned to oversee the perimeter of the abattoir. Additionally, a free parking lot is available, accommodating up to 300 vehicles.

Overall, the El Harrach abattoir is taking every precaution and initiative to provide a safe, hygienic, and efficient environment for the community celebrating Aïd El-Adha.
