le quota de la wilaya fixé à 54 tonnes durant la campagne 2025
Boumerdes Fishing Quota and Industry Update
Boumerdes, a region in Algeria, has received a fishing license allowing a quota of 54 tons of bluefin tuna for the 2025 fishing campaign. This announcement was made by the local directorate of fisheries and aquaculture. The allocated amount is part of a national total of 2,047 tons set for Algeria this year, as noted by Kadri Cherif, the director of the sector.
This year marks Boumerdes’ fourth consecutive participation in the bluefin tuna fishing campaign. The official launch occurred just two days ago from the port of Dellys (located in the eastern part of the region), featuring a locally constructed 35-meter fishing vessel from the Zemmouri El-Bahri workshops. This ship is among 39 nationwide that are participating in the campaign.
The national bluefin tuna fishing initiative kicked off officially on Monday and will run until July 1. Boumerdes supports a robust local fishing industry, comprising nine private workshops dedicated to naval construction and maintenance. These workshops are strategically located across various ports, such as Dellys, Zemmouri El-Bahri, and Cap Djinet.
Currently, they have constructed three 35-meter tuna vessels, with three additional ships under construction. This local development in maritime infrastructure is crucial for enhancing the fishing capabilities of the region, contributing both to local employment and to the national economy.
