Algeria’s Alnaft Grants Pre-Qualification to Zhongman Petroleum and Natural Gas Group

The National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (Alnaft) has awarded a pre-qualification certificate to the Chinese company Zhongman Petroleum and Natural Gas Group Corp Ltd. (ZPEC). This designation positions ZPEC as an onshore operator-investor in Algeria, as announced in a statement from Alnaft on Thursday.

The certificate was presented during a ceremony led by Mourad Beldjehem, the chairman of Alnaft’s management committee. Lounes Adour, the director of Alnaft’s Promotion and Valorization of Hydrocarbon Mining Division, officially handed the certificate to Sun Qi, the assistant general manager of ZPEC.

The announcement highlighted ZPEC’s current interest in investing in Algeria, specifically through participation in the DATA ROOM processes organized by Alnaft as part of the international bidding round for Algeria’s 2024 Bid Round. ZPEC, which was established in 2003, debuted on the Shanghai stock exchange in 2017. As a private company, it specializes in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, operating not just in China but also in international markets such as Kazakhstan and Iraq.

The collaboration between Algeria and ZPEC signifies a strategic advancement in the region’s hydrocarbons sector, potentially attracting more foreign investment and enhancing local resource management.
