Since the cessation of a ceasefire, Israeli aggression has reportedly resulted in at least 792 deaths and over 1,700 injuries, alongside the displacement of more than 142,000 Palestinians in just the past week.
Since the ongoing conflict escalated on October 7, 2023, Mansour noted that the toll of violence in Gaza has surged to a staggering 50,144 martyrs and 113,704 injured individuals. Furthermore, he pointed out that Israel has systematically blocked humanitarian aid from entering the Palestinian enclave for the past three weeks, marking the longest period of deprivation since the blockade commenced.
Mansour also expressed deep concern regarding a recent decision by the United Nations to minimize its presence in Gaza, especially in light of the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and worsening basic needs in the area. He emphasized the significant losses among humanitarian workers and journalists in Gaza, highlighting that 399 humanitarian workers—including 289 United Nations personnel—have been killed since October 2023. The toll among Palestinian journalists stands at around 200, including 27 women, over the past 17 months.
In addition to addressing the situation in Gaza, Mansour drew attention to ongoing acts of aggression in other occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, where 99 martyrs have been reported since the beginning of the year. He pointed to various violations, including property seizures, demolition of homes, the displacement of tens of thousands of civilians, assaults on holy sites, and ongoing arrests.
The Palestinian diplomat stressed that the international community bears responsibility, particularly the UN Security Council, which must take decisive action to halt Israeli aggression and protect the Palestinian people. He reiterated the call for a return to a ceasefire and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.
