Summary: Arab League Secretary General Condemns Escalation of Israeli Aggression in Palestinian Territories

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League, has strongly criticized the escalating violence perpetrated by Israeli forces against Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, as reported by the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

In his statement, Aboul Gheit referred to the ongoing attacks on civilians as indicative of "total arrogance" on the part of the Israeli entity, highlighting blatant violations of both signed agreements and the sovereignty of nations. He warned of the severe consequences of global silence regarding actions that openly defy international law. According to him, the Israeli war machine is showing no signs of halting, and this aggressive strategy is increasingly evident to the international community.

The Secretary General specifically condemned the war against Gaza, describing daily massacres and mass displacements as unprecedented in their brutality and as reflecting a total disregard for humanity. He claimed that the Israeli occupation aims to make life in Gaza unlivable, forcing its residents to flee.

Furthermore, Aboul Gheit called on all nations committed to peace and the defense of international law to take immediate action to stop the "horrific massacre." A ceasefire agreement that had been established on January 19 followed more than 15 months of aggressive actions against Gaza, which resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Despite this ceasefire, Israeli forces resumed their assaults on March 18 after a two-month pause.

The Palestinian health authorities reported grim statistics regarding the ongoing violence, revealing that since October 7, 2023, over 50,609 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 115,000 have been injured as a direct result of the ongoing conflict.

Aboul Gheit’s statements reflect the growing concern within the Arab League regarding the humanitarian crisis in the region and the need for international intervention to address the violence impacting Palestinian civilians. He emphasized the urgency of action from nations around the world to confront what he described as genocide and to restore peace and normalcy in Gaza and beyond.
