Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector: Algeria and Jordan
On a recent visit to Algiers, Jordanian Health Minister Firas Ibrahim Al Hawari highlighted the successful collaboration between Algeria and Jordan in the pharmaceutical industry. He expressed his country’s commitment to strengthening this bilateral cooperation, as reported by Algeria’s Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry.
Minister Al Hawari led a delegation of Jordanian pharmaceutical operators to Algeria, where he met with Khaled Dahane, the Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry. During their discussion, he emphasized the significant achievements in their cooperative efforts and praised the strong relationship between the two nations in this sector.
Expressing interest in enhancing this partnership, Al Hawari suggested that both nations could benefit from the exchange of expertise and knowledge, particularly in innovative pharmaceutical production. Such collaboration is expected to further foster advancements in the industry.
Khaled Dahane reciprocated the sentiment, noting the success of the ongoing cooperation, particularly in terms of the increasing investments made by Jordan in Algeria. This investment is seen as a pioneering effort, and Algeria is keen to solidify this partnership through commercial integration aimed at producing and marketing pharmaceuticals jointly. The Algerian government’s strategy includes producing the raw materials necessary for drug manufacturing, which would help reduce local production costs.
The meeting also included the Chief of Staff, the Director General of the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products (ANPP), and other ministry officials. They reviewed the current state of trade relations and the collaborative efforts in the pharmaceutical sector, emphasizing that there are currently three Jordanian companies operating in Algeria specializing in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Additionally, both parties acknowledged the importance of further developing ties between the ANPP and its Jordanian counterpart. They agreed that stronger coordination would facilitate faster registration and commercialization of pharmaceuticals in both countries.
In conclusion, the mutual interest in enhancing collaboration between Algeria and Jordan in the pharmaceutical industry demonstrates a promising avenue for economic growth and development. By leveraging each other’s strengths, both countries aim to create a more sustainable and efficient pharmaceutical sector.
