Launch of Women’s Entrepreneurship Caravan in Algeria

The Algerian Foundation for Youth Support and Entrepreneurship Development (AFYE) has initiated a Women’s Entrepreneurship Caravan aimed at empowering women economically and enhancing their contributions to sustainable development. The caravan was launched on Thursday in Algiers and will span 10 provinces over 15 days, featuring workshops, conferences, meetings, and exhibitions designed to engage over 1,000 women.

The event is part of a broader initiative to establish a professional network of more than 100 women entrepreneurs who will benefit from training programs focused on entrepreneurship, financial management, and innovation. During the caravan, 15 innovative female-led projects in sectors such as environment, agriculture, crafts, and agri-food will be selected to receive funding and support.

To facilitate participation in these various activities, a digital platform has been set up for registrations. The event is held under the patronage of the National Observatory for Civil Society (ONSC), the Ministry of Tourism and Craft, and the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life.

AFYE’s CEO, Mohamed Oussama Babou, emphasized that this caravan represents a significant opportunity to support Algerian women with projects by providing them with necessary training, guidance, and information on legal frameworks and funding options. This initiative adds to AFYE’s ongoing projects to promote entrepreneurship, including the upcoming National Forum for Industrial Integration and Subcontracting, as well as a National Salon for Financial Services aimed at supporting investment, scheduled for late July in Algiers.

Kahina Ourari, president of the National Forum of Women Entrepreneurs, remarked that the caravan is a strategic initiative that offers women entrepreneurs a real space for training and interaction with economic stakeholders, thereby opening extensive opportunities for local and national project support.

During the launch, AFYE also signed two strategic partnership agreements—one with the Algerian National Institute for Industrial Property (INAPI) and another with the Algerian Company for Insurance and Reinsurance (CAAR). The first agreement aims to promote a culture of innovation and intellectual property rights among women and youth entrepreneurs, assisting them in registration procedures while raising awareness about the significance of trademark and patent protections.

The second agreement is focused on ensuring insurance coverage for startups, especially those led by women.

This initiative represents a substantial step toward bolstering female entrepreneurship in Algeria and creating a more inclusive economic environment. Through training, mentorship, and support, the AFYE is actively contributing to the advancement of women in the business sector, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
