Coordination Meeting on Summer Camps for Algerian Children Abroad

On Tuesday, Mustapha Hidaoui, Algeria’s Minister of Youth and head of the Superior Council of Youth, oversaw a virtual coordination meeting with Chems-Eddine Hafiz, the rector of the Mosque of Paris. The meeting focused on preparations for the 2025 summer camp program aimed at children from the Algerian community abroad, taking place across several coastal regions of Algeria.

In a statement to the press, Hidaoui indicated that this initiative aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to enable 2,000 children of the Algerian diaspora to experience summer camps in Algeria. The goal is to strengthen their connection with their homeland.

To streamline this process, the minister noted that a digital platform for registration would be established, allowing parents to monitor their children’s activities during the camps. Hidaoui emphasized that the Youth sector is committed to providing specialized pedagogical support across various domains to ensure the comfort and well-being of the children during their stay.

Moreover, an educational program will reinforce national values for the younger generation. It will include visits to historical, cultural, and tourist sites to help these children understand their heritage. The minister also announced plans for interactive workshops to facilitate encounters between community members and their children, creating opportunities for connection among young Algerians.

Two sessions of summer camps, each lasting 12 days, are planned, and vacation and recreational centers will host children in the coastal regions of Algiers, Skikda, Jijel, Boumerdes, Mostaganem, and Ain Témouchent.

In summary, the meeting initiated comprehensive preparations for summer camps designed to engage and educate Algerian children living abroad, promoting cultural ties and national identity through a varied program that combines recreational and educational activities.
