Inauguration of the FIFA Arena Mini-Pitch in Algeria
On Thursday, Walid Sadi, president of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), inaugurated the new mini-pitch, "FIFA Arena," at Malek Haddad College in Algiers. This initiative is part of FIFA’s global project to establish at least 1,000 mini-pitches worldwide, aimed at promoting youth participation in football.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from FIFA as well as key figures from Algerian football, including Amine Mesloug, president of the Professional Football League (LFP), and Nadir Bouzenad, FAF’s Secretary General. In a video shared on the FAF’s official Facebook page, FIFA president Gianni Infantino congratulated the FAF for this achievement, highlighting Algeria’s role as one of the pioneering countries to inaugurate a FIFA Arena.
Infantino emphasized the importance of providing safe play spaces for children, stating, “Every child, regardless of gender, deserves the opportunity to play football. This initiative aims to transform the lives of millions, allowing children to learn and grow through sport.” He expressed optimism about the future of the project, mentioning that Algeria is among the first of many nations expected to follow suit as FIFA seeks to roll out more facilities globally, particularly in underserved urban and rural areas.
