On Thursday, Minister of Culture and Arts, Mr. Zouhir Ballalou, inaugurated the educational cinematic event « Prague Meets Algiers: A Cinematic and Creative Journey » in Algiers. This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Arts in collaboration with the Academy of Cinema in Prague, aims to benefit students and professors in Cinema and Audiovisual studies.

During the opening ceremony at the Moufdi Zakaria Cultural Palace, attended by a representative of the Czech ambassador to Algeria and Tomas Krasauskas, the director of the Prague Academy, Mr. Ballalou stated that this event marks a decisive turning point in cultural and artistic exchanges between Algeria and the Czech Republic. It also represents a significant step forward in international cultural cooperation.

The event will run until April 27 and is aligned with efforts to support creative industries and promote artistic education in Algeria. Mr. Ballalou emphasized that this event was primarily intended for artistic training, aimed at establishing a qualitative partnership between Algeria’s National School of Cinema and the Academy of Cinema in Prague. He praised the Czech Academy as a pioneering institution in the field of cinematic education.

The representative of the Czech ambassador expressed appreciation for this initiative, highlighting its role in strengthening cultural ties between the Czech Republic and Algeria. He noted that it provides a valuable opportunity for students, professors, and professionals in the cinema sector to gain insights from the expertise of the Prague Academy, guided by specialized instructors across various film industry domains.

The event was also marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National School of Cinema and the Academy of Cinema in Prague. This agreement, signed by the school’s director, Ilyes Boukhamoucha, and Mr. Krasauskas, aims to enhance training and strengthen collaboration in the fields of cinema and audiovisual media.

Through such initiatives, Algeria seeks to bolster its creative industries while fostering international partnerships that enrich its artistic landscape. The focus on collaboration with renowned institutions like the Prague Academy underscores Algeria’s commitment to elevating its cinema and audiovisual education. The event is not only a platform for training but also an opportunity for cultural exchange that could positively impact the future of the Algerian cinema industry.
