Haute-Corse : Robert Moracchini, membre du groupe Brise de mer, tué à Bastia

Robert Moracchini, a prominent figure of the Brise de mer criminal organization, was shot dead in Bastia on Saturday morning. Known to police, Moracchini was a founding member of the influential gang, which has been linked to numerous violent crimes over the decades. He was reportedly shot nine times, five in the head, prompting an organized crime investigation. This marks the fifth murder in Corsica this year, highlighting a troubling rise in violence on the island. Moracchini had a criminal history, including prior acquittals for homicide and a conviction for social security fraud. He also recently climbed Everest at age 63.
