Finalisation des levés topographiques du projet de voie ferroviaire Tamanrasset/In-Salah

Summary of the Tamanrasset Railway Project

The recent discussions surrounding the railway project connecting In-Salah to Tamanrasset have highlighted significant progress. According to Farouk Kliouati, the director of studies at the National Agency for the Study and Monitoring of Railway Project Implementation (ANESRIF), all topographical surveys for the 676-kilometer railway have been completed. This announcement was made during an informative day held at the Tamanrasset wilaya, involving local officials, notable community members, and elected representatives.

Kliouati elaborated on the feasibility study associated with the project, indicating that various technical departments had contributed valuable insights throughout the planning stages. Notably, extensive soil studies have initiated in In-Salah, and significant input was gathered from various stakeholders, addressing potential interferences with the railway’s route. For instance, the Cultural Park of Ahaggar identified 20 crucial points of concern, while the hydraulic sector raised 15, the agriculture sector flagged 8, and the tourism sector noted one.

These assessments are vital for ensuring the project is executed thoughtfully, taking into account multiple facets of the environment and community dynamics. Cherifa Takmout, from the study department of ANESRIF, emphasized the environmental considerations, pointing out the project’s implications for nomadic populations and migratory zones affected by the railway’s path.

The governor of Tamanrasset, Mohamed Boudraa, underscored the project’s importance as a critical initiative for regional development and connectivity. Local leaders and community members expressed their gratitude to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for honoring his commitments to the region’s development, particularly through this railway project.

Overall, the successful completion of topographical surveys marks a significant milestone in the realization of a project that promises to enhance transportation and stimulate economic growth in Tamanrasset and its surroundings.
