Summary of the Export of Pharmaceutical Products by Groupe Saïdal

On Wednesday, the Groupe Saïdal, a prominent public pharmaceutical company in Algeria, exported its first shipment of 100,000 bottles of pediatric paracetamol to Mauritania. This move follows the company’s successful bid in an international tender issued by the Mauritanian Medicines, Equipment, and Medical Supplies Procurement Central Agency (CAMEC).

The export initiative reflects Saïdal’s strategy to penetrate international markets while adhering to the directives of Algeria’s President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Ouacim Kouidri. The aim is to enhance the partnership between Algeria and Mauritania by facilitating the access to quality medications, thereby promoting pharmaceutical trade.

In addition to the first shipment, further quantities of diverse medications are set to be exported to Mauritania in the forthcoming months. This is part of a cooperative agreement forged in May between Saïdal and Chinguitty Pharma, a Mauritanian company specializing in the distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The agreement’s primary goal is to reinforce bilateral cooperation, particularly in supplying the Mauritanian market with Algerian medicines and enhancing their promotion.

As part of the collaboration, Saïdal plans to establish a partnership for local pharmaceutical production in Mauritania. Chinguitty Pharma is in the advanced stages of developing a factory that will commence operations with technical support from Saïdal. Initially, the factory will focus on manufacturing frequently used medications like therapeutic syrups and tablets, with future expansions to include treatments for chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and cancer.

This exportation aligns with Saïdal’s new strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in African markets. In line with this strategy, the company has previously exported pharmaceutical products to countries including Chad, Mali, and Tunisia in 2024.
