Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation: Algeria and Venezuela Meeting

On Wednesday, Algeria’s Secretary of State for Mines, Karima Bakir Tafer, and Secretary of State for Renewable Energy, Noureddine Yassaâ, hosted a delegation from Venezuela’s Ministry of Popular Power for Hydrocarbons. This meeting aimed to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, as outlined in a statement from Algeria’s Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies.

The encounter coincided with the 5th session of the Algerian-Venezuelan Joint Governmental Commission on economic, commercial, scientific, artistic, and cultural cooperation, held in Algiers on July 2-3. Attendees at the ministry headquarters reaffirmed the strong friendship and cooperation between Algeria and Venezuela, reflecting the leaders’ mutual commitment to strengthening these ties.

During the discussions, both parties reviewed the current status and prospective avenues for collaboration, particularly in hydrocarbons, energy engineering, training, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the oil and gas industry. The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation in mining resource exploitation, energy transformation, and renewable energies, especially in photovoltaic energy and clean technologies.

Furthermore, the discussions highlighted the high level of coordination between Algeria and Venezuela, especially within organizations such as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). Both parties emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to stabilize global oil and gas markets, beneficial for producers and consumers alike.

This meeting underscores the strategic partnership between Algeria and Venezuela, focusing on energy transition and resource optimization to meet contemporary and future challenges in the energy sector.
