During a recent inspection in Oran, Algeria, Health Minister Abdelhak Saihi announced significant enhancements to the nation’s healthcare facilities. With the introduction of new infrastructure, Algeria is set to add approximately 10,000 hospital beds and upgrade its medical equipment.
Saihi noted that most provinces will receive four to five new healthcare establishments, bolstering the overall capacity of the sector. He emphasized Algeria’s commitment to providing quality healthcare, supported by recognition from international health organizations that have acknowledged the advancements in the country’s health system since 2020. These improvements pertain to patient care, modern equipment, and infrastructural upgrades.
The minister highlighted the completion of 603 new healthcare structures, varying in capacity from 80 to 240 beds, along with several newly established university hospital centers across the country. These initiatives aim to strengthen public health services and ensure better patient care.
During the inauguration of the "Mahmoudi Mohamed" emergency medical-surgical hospital in Oued Tlelat and the "Moudjahid Aïssa Benali" hospital in El-Kerma, Saihi revealed that substantial funding has been allocated for the construction and outfitting of these medical centers with advanced technologies. He stressed the importance of optimizing these facilities to benefit patients, advocating for the integration of artificial intelligence to enhance resource management and improve diagnostic and treatment processes.
While visiting the "Dr. Mohamed Balaska" hospital in Sidi Chahmi, Saihi discussed the digitization of the health sector, confirming that necessary measures and timelines have been implemented. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s modernization strategy aimed at improving hospital services and ensuring easier access to healthcare across Algeria.
Additionally, Saihi inaugurated the new emergency medical-surgical service at the "Abdelkader Boukheroufa" pediatric hospital in El Menzah, Oran, and a private healthcare facility named "Djazaïr" located in Bir El Djir. These developments underline the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the healthcare landscape, ensuring that citizens receive improved medical services throughout the country.
