Summary of the Cybersecurity Competition

On Saturday in Algiers, three teams were honored for their achievements in the CTF El-Djazair cybersecurity competition, organized by the Higher Youth Council (CSJ). This event coincided with the National Day of the Student and featured a dialogue session focused on digital sovereignty. Key figures attending included Mustapha Hidaoui, Minister of Youth and CSJ Chair, Sid Ali Zerrouki, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Noureddine Ouadah, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-Ups, and Micro-Enterprises, and Meriem Benmouloud, High Commissioner for Digitization.

Investing in Youth

In his speech, Hidaoui emphasized the CSJ’s commitment to harnessing youth potential through a participatory approach, particularly in areas like cybersecurity and digital sovereignty. He highlighted the initiative aimed at mobilizing young people to address challenges such as cybercrime. Over 1,400 youths expressed interest in the competition, reflecting a strong commitment to technology and digital advancements, with 300 eventually selected to participate.

Integration into the Workforce

Minister Zerrouki announced that 30 participants would be integrated into relevant institutions to provide them with opportunities to showcase their skills. He stressed the importance of training in cybersecurity, mentioning the creation of competency development centers as part of the ministry’s youth support program. These centers will focus on providing quality training across various domains, such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, and programming.

Supporting Young Talent

Minister Ouadah welcomed scientific events like this competition, pointing to the necessity of leveraging the talents of young individuals adept in technology. He reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to supporting active start-ups in the field and promoting their initiatives.

National Digital Transformation Strategy

Benmouloud discussed the National Digital Transformation Strategy, developed through a participatory approach that involves all relevant sectors and stakeholders. An important outcome of the event was the signing of a framework agreement between the CSJ and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, which outlines areas of cooperation and various training programs, specifically in digitization and cybersecurity, utilizing the newly established competency development centers.

Conclusion

This cybersecurity competition and the subsequent panels signify an active engagement between government bodies and youth in addressing modern challenges. By prioritizing digital education and skill development, Algeria is working toward a robust digital future that effectively counters emerging cybersecurity threats while empowering the next generation.
